WHEN GOD DOESN'T ANSWER
Imagine I’m holding a piece of paper with printing on both sides. I tear off a corner containing only one word: “doctor,” and hand it to you. Think you can guess what’s on the rest of the document? No way. It could be anything from a list of prescriptions, to an essay on witch doctors. One word isn’t enough to understand the page.
Suppose God printed a document explaining how he’s working in each of our lives. But instead of telling us, God hands us a tiny corner of the page, containing one word: “trust.” We want more. But God doesn’t explain his actions, because doing so would only confuse us further, like attempting to explain our actions to a dog.
Here’s the problem. We believe we’re entitled to this information—especially in a crisis. We bombard God with questions like a freight train out of control. “Why? What did I do to deserve this? How could a loving God …?” Truth is, we simply don’t have enough information for even an uneducated guess. Yet we set ourselves up as experts regarding what Almighty God should or shouldn’t do.
God has a destiny for each of us, and he asks us to trust him. Our favorite graduation-card verse reads, “‘For I know the plans I have for you’ says the Lord. “‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NLT). He wants what’s best for us, and asks us to trust him with our destiny.
The Creator doesn’t make himself accountable to his creation. I don’t need to understand his plans for me, nor am I entitled to any sort of explanation. God simply asks me to trust him in the midst of life’s challenges, which for now, is all I need to know.
Ponder:
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
When have found yourself in a situation where you seriously questioned God?

Lord God, you are in charge of everything in the universe. I trust you with your plans for my life and I surrender everything to you.
